|Brief Description of Duties:
Conduct primary assessments, manage, stabilize and determine the disposition of patients who visit the Emergency Department for treatment. Assure quality patient care. Perform patient histories and physical examinations with federally mandated EMTALA. Record all patient encounters in the medical record. Perform laboratory and patient screening procedures. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic studies. Order and interpret diagnostic lab tests and radiological studies. Write orders for medications or other various therapies. Formulate other diagnostic impressions. Provide instruction and counseling for patients on issues regarding mental and physical health. Refer patients to the appropriate community health facilities and services. Refer to and converse with appropriate consultation services in regard to patient management. Participate in rounds at the start of the end of the shift. Assume all other responsibilities assigned by the chief or his/her designee. Teach and supervise Physician Assistant students in the clinical area.

|All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.|
REQUIRED: Bachelorís degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program. New York State P.A. license. Current New York State P.A. Registration. Current BCLS/ACLS/PALS. Board Certification. Minimum of 10 years experience working in Emergency Medicine.
