Brief Description of Duties:
Propose, design, and conduct clinical and biomechanical studies by utilizing scientific and statistical expertise to complete studies to be presented at national conferences, published in peer-reviewed journals, and to be used for the support of future grant requests. Coordinate with experts in other fields when collaborating on inter-disciplinary studies. Collect study-related data which includes demographic data, baseline clinical data (e.g. objective clinical outcome scores and scores which assess global levels of wellbeing and/or function), and post-intervention or post-observation outcome data. Evaluate final study data to ensue correct conclusions have been reached and that any clinical recommendations that may be drawn from the study are well supported by the statistical evidence. Submit abstracts and manuscripts for consideration to be presented at national/international meetings and submits completed, publication-ready abstracts to peer- reviewed medical journals. Verify that appropriate study design has been proposed and that valid statistical methods are being utilized. Able to perform statistical analyses of study-related data. Assist with coordination of departmental research program by collecting and maintaining research and outcome data. Create electronic databases. Develop research protocols. Work in the research and musculoskeletal labs. Conduct gait analysis of scoliosis patients and assignment of data of a pre and post gait marker. Work in the gait lab. Work collaboratively with residents and physicians to develop and implement research programs. In depth knowledge of grant writing and demonstrated success in obtaining grant funding support. Work collaboratively with residents and physicians to develop and implement research programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION

All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior.   Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED: Medical degree (MD). At least two (2) years of prior experience in clinical research in Orthopaedic Surgery. Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry with prior training/research. Successful applicant will be required to work independently as well as within the context of a large interdisciplinary research group. Experience with sponsor-supported clinical research and IRB clinical trials and HIPPA regulations. PREFERRED: Applicant should have thorough understanding of medical database functions and queries, and the application of statistical analysis tools such as ANCOVA, ANOVA, and Linear Regression among others.
