The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Senior Cardiothoracic Surgeon / Clinical Associate Professor (TCL) with appropriate academic credentials and an excellent clinical record to lead, develop, and run a tertiary referral surgical program.
The applicant should have strong leadership skills in heart team building and collaboration with cardiologists as well as other faculty members. The selected individual will be responsible for the design and all operational aspects of the cardiothoracic surgical program. She/he will be expected to attend cardiac catheterization conferences and lead heart team meetings, where patient clinical reviews as well as operative selections, planning, and debriefings will be done collaboratively.
Additionally, this individual will be expected to participate in all research and educational/teaching activities of the Department of Surgery and the Division of Cardiothoracic surgery, including grand rounds and quality assessment/improvement conferences. |All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.|
- New York State Medical License.
- Certification by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or foreign equivalent.
- Record of scholarly activity, grant funding and 5+ years of experience as a cardiothoracic surgeon.
