|Brief Description of Duties:
The Senior Associate Dean for Administration will be responsible for ensuring that the required human, fiscal, and facility resources are available to support the College’s current educational, research, and clinical service programs and for developing the resources required for future growth, working closely with the leadership of the College’s academic and support departments and will supervise the department and center administrative directors and the college of medicine business staff. In addition, will provide coordination for the College of Medicine’s senior management team. The Senior Associate Dean for Administration will partner with the Dean, the Chairs of the departments of the College of Medicine, and the heads of campus-connected administrative service departments (which include Finance, Information Services, Human Resources, and Facilities Management and Development) in developing, implementing, and managing College operations within the annual budget. The Senior Associate Dean for Administration will directly manage a total annual budget of over $57 million. PROGRAM OPERATINAL LEADERSHIP: Lead by developing a thorough understanding of program needs and functions and identifying opportunities to leverage resources and talent across programs. Lead and develop a high-performance senior management team with an emphasis on excellent and informed fiscal management, strategic analysis and planning, and program re-engineering. Manage training programs and retreats to expand the capacity of all staff. Work closely with the Dean in recruiting, developing, and retaining the best academic faculty possible. FISCAL MANAGEMENT: The Senior Associate Dean for Administration in coordination with the Assistant Vice President for Finance of the College of Medicine and the University CFO, prepare and submit an annual operational budget. Lead the College annual budget planning, including partnering with department chairs and leaders of connected services and their senior administrators in department budgeting. Review and recommend action by the Dean on significant department-proposed budget changes and all proposed faculty and staff annual salary changes.

|All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.|
REQUIRED: Minimum BS/BA degree with at least 10 years of experience and a track record in senior program management, specifically in a research/academically focused school of medicine. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Excellence in organizational management at a senior-level. Experience in program budgeting and fiscal management. Experience in managing the building and re-engineering of academic and research programs including facilities development, instrumentation, and faculty and staff recruitment. Excellent project management skills. Ability to prioritize and communicate to staff key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve organizational goals. Experience with human resources function including personnel, compensation, and recruiting. Commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience working with donors in an academic setting. A commitment to the diversity for which Downstate is known.
