Description of Duties:

- Design/purification of expression and transcription vectors. Purification of eukaryotic ribosomes, tRNA, native and recombinant translation factors and other proteins involved in ribosome-associated processes. - Assay the activities and interactions of individual components in in-vitro reconstituted steps of the eukaryotic translation process and associated quality control processes. - Preparation of data for presentation and publication; reading relevant scientific literature.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED: 1) Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry w/ experience in protein purification and analysis of protein structure/function. 2) Practical experience in a research setting (a) biochemistry (purification of native/recombinant proteins, functional analysis of proteins and RNA-protein complexes and (b) molecular biology (plasmid manipulation, recombinant protein expression). PREFERRED: Experience in investigating aspects of eukaryotic translation and associated quality control processes.
