Brief Description of Duties:
This professional position will be responsible for the coordination and management of the capital program planning for SUNY Downstate. The position involves working closely with the State University Construction Fund Capital Program Management Team, campus constituents, consultants and contractors in coordinating and expediting projects within the capital plan. The primary focus of this position is the development and performance of forward capital planning on the behalf of the campus. SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE: Work with DMC campus constituents, both senior administration and facilities management, and SUCF to determine campus needs, priorities, criteria etc, and develop capital programs over a multi-year time frame. Work with SUCF Capital project management in the development of prospective projects to be included as future capital funding requests. Review, collect and disseminate information that supports and documents a projects scope. Serve as a liaison between DMC campus planning committees, campus constituents and stakeholders and the SUCF. Plan projects to minimize the negative impacts of construction on the operation of the DMC and other organizations located at the campus, including the development of phasing plans. Work with DMC campus staff and SUCF Capital program management to identify and properly scope individual capital projects for design initiation by SUCF or design initiation as a campus let project. Translate DMC campus requirements and desires into a program document depicting the purpose of the project, space requirements, building and site limitations, MEP Systems requirements and other factors that impact project scope. On behalf of the campus, review construction design documentation and make comment on technical adherence, historic preservation, phasing, construction impact, constructability, maintainability and service issues as well code compliance issues. Scope, develop and administer DMC campus let projects from inception to completion. This will include participation in consultant selection as well as design review activities and supervision of campus let contractors. Continuously work with DMC and SUCF staff to monitor the progress of specific capital projects as well as the financial status of the campuses capital plan. Attend project meetings, produce meeting documents, and confirm the accuracy of the minutes of project meetings. Act as a point of contact between SUCF construction personnel and the campus. Coordinate between FM&D operations and maintenance.

|All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.|
REQUIRED: Bachelorís degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field. Minimum 5 years (10 years preferred) of experience in capital project design and construction management, supervision, architecture, engineering or related field. Architectural/Professional Engineer NYS Registration required. Technical knowledge of design and construction industries. Ability to comprehend construction drawings and specifications. MS Word Outlook and Excel proficiency. Strong written and verbal communication skills. PREFERRED: Working knowledge of New York State Building Codes, National Electrical Code and other code standards. Experience in educational or hospital campus facilities operations or project management. Experience with estimating and project scheduling software. AutoCAD software proficiency Experience with historic preservation issues.
