|Additional Position Information: * Represents Location Pay for full-time appointees. Hours of work 9AM-5PM; Days of week: Monday - Friday; Hours per week: 37.5 THIS POSITION IS REVISED.|
Brief Description of Duties:
Promptly and professionally assist the doctor in patient care; Efficiently and accurately interview patients and document history. Perform technical work-ups and special testing. Must accurately perform and record various tests. Visual acuity measurement, manual and automatic refraction, tonometry, measure pupil size and reactivity, test and measure eye muscle function. Visual field testing, corneal thickness measurement, corneal curvature measurement, corneal topography, retinal nerve fiber layer measurement, retinal thickness and topography, fluorescein angiography. A and B scan ultrasonography. Maintain and clean all equipment being used. Perform routine operational maintenance of ocular equipment and surgical instruments. Report to supervisor if not in working condition. Return phone calls to patients and pharmacies Prepare for in-office procedures Surgical assisting with in-office procedures Prepare dirty instruments for transport for Central Sterile Responsible for preparation and stocking of examination rooms Responsible for monitoring medication inventory Supply and medication ordering Responsible for monitoring supply inventory Obtain reports of microbiology, pathology, radiology etc. Maintain clinical area in a neat, clean and professional manner.

|All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.|
REQUIRED: JCAHPO certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT). A minimum of three (3) years experience as an ophthalmic assistant working in a clinical area. PREFERRED: AAS in Medical Technology and two years experience as Ophthalmic Technician.
