Brief Description of Duties:
Under the general direction of the Director of Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement, with dotted line accountability to the Assistant Chief Information Officer and Director of Information Technology Service, the Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for working collaboratively with the IT Department to facilitate the development and delivery of comprehensive data collection and management of data resources of the QRRS Department; coordinating departmental access to the medical centerís data resources and constructing automated and manual performance monitoring systems to facilitate quality improvement throughout the medical center; analyzing and interpreting data by utilizing appropriate statistical methodologies; preparing related reports and maintaining standards and procedures for access to quality improvement data. The successful candidate will have familiarity with regulatory agencies and Public Reporting entities i.e. CMS, Hospital Compare, NYPORTS, HCAHPS, Press Ganey, GNYHA, SPARCS, etc. Specific Duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to the following: - Assess the information and analytic resources currently available within the department and throughout the Hospital. - Provide expert consultation and technical support to the various individuals and teams involved in measurement and improvement work. - Work with clinical staff to develop protocol based studies that measure the effect of variation in practice on cost, quality and satisfaction. - Provide education and skill training to key Hospital staff in the use of performance improvement information. - In collaboration with System Improvement Black Belts, evaluate potential projects and manages current projects in a systematic way. - Design, generate and distribute routine and special reports, ensuring that appropriate statistical methodologies are used in the analysis of data. - Present educational sessions on statistical concepts to Department Heads and staff involving Performance Improvement. - Foster a culture that promotes a commitment to continually improve the quality of clinical care and services to patients, physicians and staff.

|All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.|
REQUIRED: Bachelorís Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Health Administration or related field and a minimum of 3-5 years of recent relevant experience in a healthcare environment. Expertise in applicable PC-based computer software for word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, database development, data management and statistical analysis. Superior logical analytic and deductive reasoning skills, with demonstrable competence in mathematics, basic statistical methods and effective use of Performance Improvement methodologies and tools. Detail oriented and ability to keep abreast of changes in regulatory standards. Excellent project management, written and oral communication skills. Ability to adhere to work schedules and deadlines and work collaboratively with a broad range of constituencies. PREFERRED: Masterís Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Health Administration or related field. Experience with standard query language (SQL), SPSS and SAS. CPHQ Certification.
