Brief Description of Duties:
Direct the identification and support implementation and monitoring of performance for all value analysis supply initiatives supporting quality patient care, process improvement, and cost savings.
Establish a vision of guiding principles, set direction and goals for the Value Analysis (VAT) teams. Aid in the justification approval of VAT cost reduction recommendations. Escalate concerns to remove barriers on initiatives that are taking longer than expected to make a decision.
Gather product or service information to support value analysis committees i.e. samples, data, white papers to help determine best practice for clinical and financial goals.
Strategic rather than tactical focus; develop and execute strategies to deliver significant and sustainable reductions in quality cost outcomes. Build enthusiasm amongst colleagues.
Build enterprise wide clinician leadership to support supply chain decision making. Instill clinical accountability, monitor results and provide metrics. Create transparency among executives, clinical stakeholders and supply chain with ongoing communication.
Create ad hoc work groups to address specific product categories. Develop strategy and implementation plans for each initiative. Accountable for established goals and targets. Communicate successes.
Review and approve minutes for each committee before they are loaded onto value advisor.
Prep each committee chair before the sub-committee meetings occur. Also, prep the chair for steering committee on the activities seeking senior leadership approval on initiatives approved at each value analysis sub-committee.
Develop procedures for and tools needed to successfully implement system procurements, and ensure data integrity of same.
Hire and train employees. Plan, assign and direct work. Lead and motivate. Appraise performance and recommend corrective actions as required.
Address complaints and resolve problems.
Create and update policies and procedures, documents best business practice controls to track the Downstate mission, vision and goals.
Comply with all State, Federal and other regulatory requirements ensuring consistent application of internal controls and adherence to DMC and NYS policies.
All other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Contracts and Procurement.

|All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.|
REQUIRED: BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university. Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Strong leadership, project management and interpersonal skills, with writing ability and analytic capability are required. Proficient with MS Office suite and a variety of electronic data base systems is necessary.
Ten (10) years of work experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements.
PREFERRED: RN. 5 plus years of experience in Value Analysis working in a healthcare environment developing, negotiating and administering high-dollar, multi-year, complex contracts and subcontracts. A working knowledge of New York State Finance Law.
