|Additional Position Information: * Represents Location Pay for full-time appointees. Hours of Work: 9:00am - 5:00pm; Days of Week: Monday - Friday. Hours per Week: 37.5.|
Brief Description of Duties:
The Risk Management Coordinator will be responsible for the following: Reviewing medical records and analyzing the viability of claims and defenses; summarizing records. Investigating incidents involving patients, visitors and staff and participating in Root Cause Analysis. Interviewing staff, including physicians, as part of incident investigation. Reviewing medical records and writing reports for hospital use in evaluating medical malpractice cases. Coordinating the campus product safety process through use of a web-based system; interacting with hospital-wide product safety coordinators and managers. Assisting legal counsel with discovery requests during the preparation of medical liability defense. Accepting service of legal documents for medical liability cases. Assisting Director of Department with management of day-to-day issues including informed consent, safe discharge, end of life decision-making and any various issues.

|All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.|
REQUIRED: RN with related Bachelor's degree. NYS License. Five plus (5+) years clinical/hospital experience. Computer proficiency, and experience with medical records review. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. PREFERRED: Risk management or PI experience.
