Brief Description of Duties:
The Physician's Assistant will be expected to perform admission histories and physical examinations on newly-admitted and transferred patients to the medical service.
With the guidance of the supervisory attending physician, the Physician's Assistant will:
Initiate diagnostic evaluation and therapeutics.
Monitor and manage inpatients with a wide variety of illnesses and perform daily examinations and assessment.
Maintain medical records, including admission notes, progress notes, transfer notes and discharge summaries.
Participate in patient/family education and discharge planning.
It is expected that the Physician's Assistant will be capable of performing selected procedures, including venipuncture, arterial punctures, IV insertions and NG tube placement.
The above duties will be carried out during rotations through
1. General Medicine Service
2. Emergency Short Stay
3. Telemetry/Cardiology Short Stay
4. Hematology Service/Oncology Service.
Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief of his/her designee.

|All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.|
REVISED REQUIRED: NYS License and Bachelor's degree from an approved Physician's Assistant program. Current Certification in BCLS/ACLS. NCCPA Certification.
PREFERRED: Minimum of 2 years of experience in primary medical care or 3 years in a general practice.
