Minimum Required QUALIFICATIONS:  REQUIRED: - High school or equivalent diploma. - Prior experience in a hospital environment preferred, preferably with patient transportation. - Good verbal communication skills to interact with patients, customers and clinical staff. - Candidate must be able to read and write English and follow oral and written instructions.
Additional Information:  - Responsible to transport patients safely and efficiently to and from clinical, ancillary and support areas via wheelchairs, stretchers or beds as requested. - Transport deceased patients to the morgue. - Assist in transferring patients to or from beds, wheelchairs or stretchers as needed. - Transport laboratory specimens by picking up specimens and delivering them to specific laboratory. - Respond quickly to STAT calls. - Communicate to nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians or receptionists of patient arrival and departure. - Disinfect and maintain par levels of equipment. - Frequent bending, twisting, lifting, pushing and pulling 50 lbs. and above as required to transport patients, charts, specimens and required equipment to various treatment and diagnostics areas throughout all areas of the facility. - Any other related duties as assigned by the Manager or Administrator.
All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior.   Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.
