The Department of Medicine and the Division of Nephrology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor/Renal Attending Physician. The successful candidate will:
- Be responsible for medical management of inpatient and outpatient kidney transplant patients including allograft biopsies and donor evaluations.
- Render consultative inpatient and outpatient nephrology services and ESRD management.
- Contribute actively to policy making for the transplant service and attend transplant related administrative meetings.
- Participate actively in evolving standards and multidisciplinary strategies for the management of transplant patients.
- Share in the rotation of responsibilities related to the Division of Nephrology.
- Actively participate in educational activities for the renal division; provide adequate supervision and teaching of fellows, residents and medical students.
- Actively participate in research and apply for extramural funding to support such activity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION

All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior.   Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.
Qualifications:
- Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
- Board Certified in Nephrology.
- Completion of Fellowship in Transplant Nephrology in an accredited UNOS/AST center.
- Experience in renal ultrasound and real time ultrasound guided kidney biopsies.
- Experience in pre and post-operative medical management of transplant recipients.
- Must demonstrate ability to conduct basic or clinical investigation.
