The Division of Vascular Surgery in the Department of Surgery, is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor of Surgery (GFT) / Vascular Surgeon, to join their team at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. The successful candidate will be accountable for, but not limited to, the following:
- Provide comprehensive vascular surgery clinical care in both an outpatient and inpatient setting.
- Supervise all vascular surgical care rendered by physicians assistants, fellows, and residents.
- Work with the vascular surgery team which includes and not limited to vascular techs, practice administrator, etc.
- Participate in the day to day functions of the vascular surgery service.
- Teach residents as core faculty in the general surgery residency program.
- Teach and supervise medical students rotating through vascular surgery.
- Oversee and direct residents and medical students on the vascular service.
- Perform clinical research in the vascular surgery division.
- Participate in quality assurance activities.
- Collaborate with department divisions, hospital and medical school leadership on initiatives to expand the market share and scope of services provided by the Vascular Surgery program.
- Actively participate in the department, hospital and campus wide committees and work groups.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION

All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
- New York State Medical License.
- Board Certified/Eligible or Foreign Equivalency in vascular surgery.
- Fellowship trained in vascular surgery.

PREFERRED:
- Experience in all types of open and interventional vascular procedures.
- Proven scholarly activity.
- Record of research and educational activities.
