The Department of Surgery at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full time Visiting Associate Professor. SUNY Downstate Medical School is actively recruiting for a fellowship trained, Board Certified/Board Eligible Visiting Associate Professor to join the Department of Surgery. Currently, our multi-disciplinary intensive care until supports active cardiothoracic, ECMO, abdominal transplant, and advanced general surgical patients with planned expansion of surgical subspecialty care. Downstate faculty are expected to pursue excellence in clinical medicine, research, and education. The applicant will also be expected to lead development of an ABS-accredited fellowship in surgical critical care. Previous experience with thoracic and abdominal transplantation is preferred. This faculty position has leadership opportunities with hospital administration and the Department of Surgery. The hospital along with its adjacent medical school campus, serves a very large and socio-economic diverse patient population. The hospital has a close affiliation with Kings County Medical Center and three other major New York City teaching hospitals. | All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization. | |||
| Qualifications: - New York State medical license. - New York State DEA certificate. - American Board of Surgery Fellowship Training in Surgical Critical Care. - Current American Board of Surgery certification in Critical Care is preferred. - Previous experience in academic medicine is preferred. |
