The Department of Surgery at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full-time Chief of the Division of Transplantation Surgery. The successful candidate will: - Coordinate, organize and grow the transplant service. - Supervise all transplant surgical care rendered by attending physicians, physician assistants, fellows and residents. - Oversee quality assurance activities of the transplant program. - Have strong clinical experience and interests and achievements in research, education, and organizational skills. - Work collaboratively with other members of the division and the department, and with counterparts throughout the medical school and hospital to improve quality, develop efficiencies, and enhance interdisciplinary collaboration and growth. - Collaborate with department, division, hospital and medical school leadership on initiatives to expand the market share and scope of services. - Actively participate in department, hospital, and campus-wide committees and work groups. - Foster scholarly activity, and engages in own program publications and research. - Teach and supervise residents and medical students. Leads transplant educational programs. - Maintain a satisfactory balance between clinical care, research and educational functions of the transplant program. - Participate in any other activities assigned by the Department Chair. | All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization. | |||
| Qualifications: REQUIRED: - Medical Doctorate from an accredited college of medicine. - Completed an accredited general surgery residency. - Completed an ASTS accredited transplantation fellowship. - Board Certified or Foreign Equivalency in General Surgery. - Board Certified/Eligible or Foreign Equivalency in Transplantation Surgery. - New York State medical license or eligible for licensure in NY DEA. - U.S. Citizen or permanent resident. |
