| Brief Description of Duties: Are you looking to take your career to new heights with a leader in healthcare? SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is one of the nation's leading metropolitan medical centers. Reporting directly to the President of SUNY Downstate Medical Center, this senior executive will develop and supervise a comprehensive plan of development and alumni relations to achieve the overall financial support of the university through operational, capital and endowment gifts. This critical position will work closely with the entire leadership team in achieving the fund raising and goals of Downstate Medical Center. The successful candidate will: 1. Direct a program of fund development for the University that achieves goals for external resource development, charitable contributions, planned giving, donor cultivation, alumni and donor records, campaign management, and resource allocation. 2. Establishes and is accountable for fund raising programs, initiatives and goals, and objectives each year. This includes administration of capital and annual fund campaigns and special, major and planned gift programs (i.e. $100,000 and above). This responsibility also includes administration of prospect/donor research; gift processing and records; donor cultivation, recognition and stewardship; and the comprehensive and integrated operations and systems needed to support these advancement functions. 3. Identify and cultivate prospective donors (individuals, corporations, and foundations). 4. Will be assigned other development related duties and responsibilities for the Health Science Center of Brooklyn Foundation. 5. Work closely with the President on fund raising and alumni engagement activities. 6. Be a liaison to the Downstate Medical Alumni Association. 7. Hire, train and supervise Development Department staff. 8. Prepare and monitor budget for Development Department. 9. Assist President, Vice Presidents, Deans, and others as appropriate in their development responsibilities. 10. Provide leadership for communicating needs of the University to donors and prospective donors. 11. Prepare appropriate statistical reports on all fund raising, development and alumni activities. 12. Manage the President’s Special Programs and other constituent donor recognition programs for the University. 13. Perform other job related duties and/or special projects as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position supervises the Office of Development and support staff. This position also includes supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. | Qualifications: REQUIRED: - Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred. - Minimum three to five (3-5) years experience in fundraising for non-profit organizations. - Demonstrated supervisory experience of fundraising staff is highly desirable. |
