The Office of Academic Affairs at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Director of Evaluation and Outcomes Assessment. Under the guidance of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Director of Evaluation and Outcomes Assessment will provide institutional leadership and guidance to university administration and faculty regarding student assessment and educational program evaluation. In doing so, s/he will support quality improvement of our programs as well as accreditation compliance.

Responsibilities and duties will include:

1. Student Assessment: Improve and coordinate a comprehensive student assessment program for the educational programs that use program objectives defined in the college domains of competency and incorporates recommendations or best practices from national or regional experts.

2. Program Evaluation: Improve and coordinate comprehensive evaluation of the educational programs, including coordinating data from admissions, student academic performance, student experience, course/ clerkship/ segment evaluation of the curriculum, residency match, graduation and post-graduation data, based on desired outcomes using graduation competencies and national norms/ benchmarks when possible. In order to achieve the above, the Director will systematically and regularly monitor relevant data, produce user- friendly reports, and work with administration and faculty to recommend and implement corrective action, improvement, and ensure accountability. S/he will support computer and IT functions related to assessment and accountability documentation, and promote the distribution and display of student learning outcomes using web-based tools and technology.

3. Support academic long-range planning and design relative to institutional effectiveness, assessment, and program development with regard to academic programs.

4. Ensure the University’s assessment and program review processes are prepared to meet various accountability expectations and accreditation requirements. Support the various colleges and other offices in preparing for specialized accreditations and reviews.

5. Provide consultation to college deans and academic program directors regarding student assessment and program evaluation.

6. Provide direction, leadership, and advice regarding assessment to administration, faculty, committees, and others involved in the design, development, and evaluation of instructional programs, learning, and academic services.

All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior.   Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree (Doctorate preferred) from an accredited college or university in Mathematics, Statistics, Education, Business, Social Science, or a related field.
- A deep understanding of higher education data issues, good relationships with campus community, a minimum of 7 years extensive technical and data management skills.
