The Payroll Department at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full time Payroll, Time & Attendance Team Lead. The successful candidate will: - Maintain payroll and time and attendance information by collecting, calculating and entering data into various systems as appropriate. - Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, job title, department/division and transfers or other information as needed. - Prepares reports by compiling summaries of information such as earnings, taxes, deductions, leaves, disability and non taxable wages etc. - Determines payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income, social security taxes, unemployment, workers compensation payments and other liabilities as necessary. - Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and implementing changes. - Provides payroll information to supervisors, customers and other approved individuals. - Supports payroll operations by following policies and procedures, reporting problems and making the necessary corrections to ensure the accuracy of payroll transactions. - Maintains the confidentiality of payroll records. - Adhere to all New York State regulatory requirements and SUNY policies and procedures. - Participates in continuous process improvements to support current and future systems enhancements. - Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. - Must possess general math skills, reporting skills, verbal, written and communication skills with strong attention to detail. - Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. | All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization. | |||

Qualifications: REQUIRED: - Proficiency in MS Office Suite and a variety of electronic database systems. - Proficient in Excel; look up functions and pivot tables. PREFERRED: - BS/BA - 2 to 3 years of experience in payroll or a related field, preferably working in a healthcare environment. - A working knowledge of New York State Finance Laws. - Ability to generate and analyze financial reports with strong data entry skills. |
