The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full time Administrator. The successful candidate will:
- Be responsible for the administrative and clinical direction and oversight of the therapeutic divisions in the PM&R division of PT, OT, and SLP.
- Develop and implement of departmental policies and procedures related to the therapeutic disciplines.
- Assure compliance with policy and procedures of governing bodies.
- Budget oversight of all therapy disciplines
- Identify staffing needs and adjust budget accordingly.
- Participate in hospital-wide committees as assigned.
- Staff supervision/recruitment to include directors of therapy and all other staff members in the therapy disciplines.
- Perform all required paperwork for annual evaluations and recruitment on a timely basis, maintain hospital files as per hospital policy.
- Provide monthly reports to the Chairman and Division Chief regarding therapy statistics and productivity.
- Function as a liaison between hospital administration and the therapy disciplines.
- Provide administrative support to the Division Chief of PMR including but not limited to on-boarding of physicians and clerical staff and GME responsibilities in conjunction with the residency coordinator.
- Serve as a leader and liaison betwween rehab therapy and other hospital departments, including attendance at rounds and performance improvement initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION

All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior.   Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
- BS in Physical or Occupational Therapy.
- Master's degree in related field.
- At least 6-8 years of progressive managerial experience in an acute hospital setting with extensive knowledge of inpatient rehabilitation units and current requirements.
