Brief Description of Duties:
The School of Public Health at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full time Recruiter Specialist. This position will report to the Assistant Dean for Enrollment and Student Affairs. Responsibilities will include establishing and administering programs to recruit students to each of the school's public health programs. The Student Recruitment Specialist will also manage the application process for all public health students from the time they are prospective students through enrollment in their first semester.

The Recruitment Specialist works with the SPH Leadership, Department Chairs and Faculty. Plans and attends Information Sessions, Graduate Open Houses, New Student Orientation and other admission related events, internal and external. Evening and weekend hours may be required in support of special projects and events. Travel required.The successful candidate will:
- Plan and coordinate internal and external student recruitment events such as open houses, information sessions, graduate fairs and discussion groups for prospective students to provide information regarding all programs offered by the School.
- Represent SUNY Downstate’s SPH at student recruitment activities/events internally and outside the Medical Center.
- Remain up-to-date with the latest student recruitment and enrollment trends.
- Participate in advertising and student recruitment planning meetings and discussions.
- Ensure that prospective students receive timely communications regarding specific deadlines.
- Establish and maintain enrollment management data through survey instruments in an effort to identify strengths and potential weaknesses of recruitment strategies.
- Create and maintain all School promotional publications print, electronic, newsletters, event listings, and advertising.
- Develop and maintain a sustainable social media presence for the SPH with consistent branding across sites. Identify and manage optimal mix of social media sites to maintain and coverage on each.
- Coordinate and disseminate marketing materials via the website, email, social media, and in print.
- Identify additional internal distribution lists, and custom or purchased lists for student recruitment opportunities.
- Support all admissions activities, applicant communications, and event promotions.
- Work with recruitment and admission personnel to support pre and post event marketing and promotions to increase attendance and awareness of events.
- Maintains on-campus communication assets such as display cases and brochure holders.
- Manage enrollment and admissions records.
- Ensure that all materials are correctly prepared for the Committee on Admissions
- Monitor the admissions process for all programs within the School.
- Act as liaison with the Offices of Admissions, Registrar, Student Affairs, Student Health, Bursar, Financial Aid, and Communications.
- Troubleshoot application process for applicants.
- Other duties as assigned.

All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior.   Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Three to five years of recruitment experience within graduate higher education is required.
- The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, analytical and presentation skills.
- Must be able to work effectively and cooperatively with other areas within the University, particularly with members of the Dean’s Office and Department Chairs.
- Excellent organizational, administrative and customer service skills required.
- Must demonstrate experience with prospective student engagement
- Excellent written communications skills to cover content creation and management for print and electronic publications, social media, and advertising initiatives. Also, provides administrative support.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask in a fluid, fast-paced environment.
- Must have graphic design skills, e.g., proficient use of Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Canva.
- Must have excellent computer skills and be highly proficient in the latest word processing, presentation and data analysis software (e.g., Microsoft Suite.)
