The Department of Pediatric at SUNY Downstate is seeking a part time Nurse Practitioner. The successful candidate will: - Participate in the medical evaluations of abused/neglected children who are clients of Jane Barker Brooklyn Child Advocacy Center (JBBCAC). - Provide medical evaluations of abused/neglected children who are clients of JBBCAC to include: obtaining consent from parent or guardian; History of presentation and past medical history; Educational/developmental/behavioral history, psychosocial history, and family history; complete general physical examination, complete anal/genital examination including colposcopy when appropriate; Examination for specific signs of neglect or trauma, to include digital, photo and/or video documentation when appropriate. - Provide forensic testing from clients of JBBCAC in cases of sexual abuse including pho colposcopy, cultures and serology for sexually transmitted infection, collection of Sexual Offense Evidence Collection Kit and Drug-Facilitated Sexual Assault Kit, and proper storage and interpretation of results. - Provide appropriate and forensically sound documentation of the findings of physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. - Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the multidisciplinary team regarding medical evaluations and findings of clients of JBBCAC. - Provide fact and/or expert testimony in court as appropriate on behalf of clients of JBBCAC. - Maintain an updated knowledge and understanding of current medical issues and related legal and psychosocial issues related to child abuse and neglect. - Preparation and sign-off of Crime Victim Board (CVB) forensic rape exam billings. | All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization. | |||

Qualifications: REQUIRED: - RN - NYS licensure, NYS certification as Nurse Practitioner. - At least two years of experience in professional nursing practice. |
