Brief Description of Duties: Are you looking to take your career to new heights with a leader in healthcare? SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is one of the nation's leading metropolitan medical centers. The School of Public Health at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full time Senior Staff Associate/ Instructional Designer. Reporting to the Vice Dean of the School of Public Health, Dr. Michael Joseph, the Instructional Designer will work with faculty of the School of Public Health, the School of Health Professions and the College of Nursing to provide vision leadership, and coordination in designing developing, and delivering fully online courses and technology-enhanced instructional material. The Instructional Designer will join a team that works collaboratively to support the teaching and learning mission of SUNY Downstate Health Science University. The successful candidates will: - Work collaboratively with faculty and colleagues to analyze instructional outcomes and provide expertise in the planning, development, and delivery of high-quality online learning experiences. Work collaboratively with the Online Learning Core (OLC) team in the School of Public Health as part of the formal online course design and review process. - Demonstrate effective communication, adaptability, creatively and time management in order to work collaboratively with faculty to enhance the learning environment for students. - Write effective instructional text, audio, and video scripts. Be responsible for devising modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course. - Design online training courses and instructor- led classroom training identify methodologies to be used to deliver content and organizing the content and flow of information. Must be able to work with multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Candidate must also be able to train one-on-one and in a group setting. - Utilize eLearning development tools and software as part of their course development. Responsible for planning and managing course development and design projects. - In-depth understanding of Section 508, universal design and applicable accessibility standards relating to online courses. - Analyze and apply trends in learning technologies and instructional design should be standard practice for instructional designers. Develop learning objectives, structure learning activities, create visual aids for online and face-to-face interactions. Knowledge of streaming audio and video, file types and formats, and experience with online conference software. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION |

Qualifications: - Master’s degree in instructional design or technology, education, or equivalent field. - Must have a minimum of four years in instructional designing in higher-ed, experience in developing online, mobile training, and instructor-led courses, and experience with eLearning technology platforms and learning management systems. - Must be collaborative and be able to work independently. - Must have strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills. - Downstate utilizes Blackboard as a learning management system. Blackboard experience is preferred, not required. |
