Brief Description of Duties: Are you looking to take your career to new heights with a leader in healthcare? SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is one of the nation's leading metropolitan medical centers. As the only academic medical center in Brooklyn, we serve a large population that is among the most diverse in the world. We are also highly-ranked by Castle Connolly Medical, a healthcare rating company for consumers, among the top 5 leading U.S. medical schools for training doctors. The Office of Development and Philanthropy is seeking a full-time Major Gifts Officer. The successful candidate will: - Help design and implement the annual fund raising and planned giving strategies and initiatives for Development and Philanthropy. - Researches, solicits, cultivates a portfolio of 20 prospective donors and closes on gifts; Prospects include the SUNY Downstate community, current and former faculty, graduates, affiliates, other individuals, institutions and corporations. - Securing gift commitments at the $100,000 level and above. - Develops and maintains updated data base on portfolio and prepares timely reports on all. - Maintains and stewards authentic relationships with donors and prospective donors for long term commitment to the Medical Center. - Contributes to the design and marketing of SUNY Downstate’s fundraising programs. - Designs social media campaigns to engage the Alumni on "The State of Downstate" further enhancing the connection and building the "Good Will Path". - Collaborates with and is integral development team member for the advancement of shared goals. | All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization. | |||

Qualifications: - A Bachelor’s Degree is required. (A Master’s Degree is preferred). - Candidate has an understanding of and commitment to public higher educations. - A minimum of 3 years of paid frontline, successful fundraising experience with evidence of closing major gifts. |
