The Department of Neurology/ Stroke Division at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full time Instructional Support Specialist. The Clinical Research Coordinator is the link between the investigator and sponsor.

The position includes a variety of tasks. The CRC is positioned within the research team together with physicians and scientists, with the potential to be involved in the development stages of the protocol through to the completion of the studies.

The CRC is the liaison between departmental investigators and the Office of Scientific Affairs, and the Research Administration ensuring compliance with grant submission including putting together the budget sheets.

Must be a team player with a proactive attitude, conscientiousness, flexibility and be open to change.

The successful candidate will:
- Coordinate clinical trails under the umbrella of the NIH-NINDS-funded SIREN, StorkeNET, and NeuroNEXT networks in collaboration with multiple institutions, managing multiple research coordinators at participating hospitals/medical centers.
- Troubleshoot recruitment barriers at study sites and develop strategies to improve performance.
- Achieve network-mandated milestones within appropriate timelines.
- Review local and sub-site data and source for quality assurance checks at regular intervals and assist with database management and compliance.
- Assist with grant management activities including: submissions, invoices, and payments, coordination and planning of budgets, time and people management.
- Proactively recognizes potential obstacles and works to resolve them. Conscientious and precise delivery of work even when under pressure.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION

All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior.   Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
- BS/BA with science background.
- Experience in clinical research, clinical trials, grant administration, knowledge into legal and regulatory matters of clinical research a plus.
- Outstanding English skills, oral and written required.
- Computer literacy.

PREFERRED:
- Experience with SPSS or SAS, RED-CAP/other databases, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Microsoft Outlook), Adobe Photoshop, Windows Operating Systems.
