The Office of Hospital Administration at University Hospital of Brooklyn, SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Director of Facilities / Project Manager. The successful candidate will:
- Directs, coordinates, evaluates, investigates and recommends plans, designs and changes in various construction, renovation and engineering activities.
- Develops and prepares standard methods and procedures for implementation of maintenance operations, construction contracts and capital projects development.
- Provides technical assistance in review of existing maintenance and engineering procedures, service and construction contracts, and preventive maintenance for all facilities.
- Prepares scope and estimated cost of projects proposed, develops and updates cost estimates and analyzes construction phases and operating schedules to assure timely completion of projects with minimal disruption to surrounding activities.
- Administers project activities through the assignment of qualified key personnel by establishing and maintaining project budget, equipment, material supplies and other necessary services and by obtaining and furnishing personnel with basic job information.
- Prepares reports and studies for Corporate Officers, detailing proposed new programs, statistical studies, leasing property, health facilities planning with recommendations and other data as required.
- Provides consultative services to Executive Director pertaining to engineering, construction and/or design projects; Maintains and performs as liaison with Federal, State and City agencies in capital planning, design, codes engineering and construction.
- Acts as a member of the Architect-Engineer Selection Board, participating in the evaluation of prospective consultants for specific projects.
- Participates in regular periodic staff meetings; Reviews capital and expense budget submissions and provides recommendations regarding proposed projects and programs.
- May represent the Corporation in certain legal matters dealing with City, State and Federal agencies.
- Responsible for Hospital Facilities Regulatory Compliance.
- Participation and preparation in several TJC, CMS, NYSDOH surveys.
- Participate in various committees; Environment of Care, Infection Control, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION

All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior.   Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.
Qualifications:
- A Baccalaureate Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Seven (7) years of experience in the construction, architectural or engineering field, including three (3) years in design contracts and construction contracts relating to healthcare facilities in a managerial or administrative capacity
- Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) with seven (7) years of experience in healthcare facilities in a managerial or administrative capacity.
