The Department of Radiology- Diagnostic at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Medical Radiographer / Mammography Tech. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Licensed radiological technologist required to perform diagnostic imaging for all Mammography procedures and Bone Density.
- Ability to perform digital breast imaging tomosynthesis.
- Assist radiologist during breast biopsies, needle localization and stereotactic breast imaging procedures.
- Ability to perform QA testing for digital imaging equipment.
- Must be familiar with all diagnostic equipment used to perform Mammography and Bone Density procedures, to include digital unit.
- Ability to produce high quality images efficiently regardless of volume. Performs exams in accordance with established protocols.
- Demonstrates the ability to provide assistance to external and internal customers. Provide excellent customer service.
- Responsible for patient care while preforming imaging , to include accuracy of patient identification and time out procedures.
- Able to deal with emergent situations.
- Maintain principle of ALARA.
- Responsible for maintaining continuing education requirements as specified by ARRT.
- Ability to teach House Staff of other personal in the technical aspects of imaging equipment.
- Must have prior experience with computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information System and PACS.
- All exams must be completed immediately in RIS and verify on PACS.
- Duties include burning CD’s and DVD when necessary.
- Hours may change on as needed basis according to departmental operating needs.
- Must adhere to hospital/department infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintain courteous and pleasant disposition with patients.
- Must adhere to time an attendance policies.
- Performs other tasks as required.

All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior.   Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.
Qualifications:
- NYS License and ARRT registration required.
- AAS degree or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in all mammography and bone density procedures.
- Hospital experience preferred.
