The Department of Radiology at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full time Medical Radiographer I / X-Ray Technologist. The successful candidate will be New York State licensed radiologic technologist and will:
- Conduct diagnostic imaging, including general x-ray, portables, fluoroscopy and all other applicable diagnostic exams.
- Demonstrate experience with all diagnostic equipment including portable and fluoroscopic equipment and the operating room.
- Produce high quality images efficiently regardless of volume.
- Perform exams in accordance with established protocols.
- Demonstrate the ability to aid external and internal customers, and provide excellent customer service.
- Be responsible for patient care while performing imaging, to include accuracy of patient identification.
- Have the ability to deal with emergent situations.
- Maintain the principles of ALARA.
- Have the strong ability to teach House Staff or other personnel in the technical aspects of imaging equipment.
- Have prior experience with computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information Systems and PACS. All exams must be completed immediately in RIS and verify on PACS.
- Be responsible for burning CD's and DVD's when necessary.
- Adhere to all SUNY Downstate Medical Center and departmental policies and procedures, to include principles of behavior, hospital/ department infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintain a courteous and pleasant disposition with patients.
Adhere to time and attendance policies.
- Be flexible with availability as the work hours may change on an as-needed basis, according to departmental operating needs, and be flexible to perform other tasks as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION

All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
- New York State License.
- A.R.R.T registration.
- A.A.S. degree or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in all diagnostic x-ray procedures.

PREFERRED:
- Hospital experience.
