The Department of Radiology/ Diagnostic at SUNY Downstate is seeking a part time Medical Radiographer I / X-Ray Technologist. The successful candidate will:
- Licensed radiological technologist required to perform diagnostic imaging including general ex-ray, portables, fluoroscopy and all other applicable diagnostic exams.
- Must be familiar with diagnostic equipment including portable and fluoroscopic equipment and the operating room.
- Ability to produce high quality images efficiently regardless of volume.
- Perform exams in accordance with established protocols.
- Responsible for patient care while performing imaging, to include accuracy of patient identification.
- Ability to deal with emergent situations.
- Maintain principle of ALARA.
- Teach House staff or other personnel in the technical aspects of imaging equipment.
- Prior experience with computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information Systems and PACS.
- All exams must be completed immediately in RIS and verify on PACS.
- Duties also include the burning of CD’s and DVD’s when necessary.
- Must adhere to SUNY Downstate Medical Center and department policies and procedures, to include principle of behavior.
- Maintain a courteous and pleasant disposition with patients.
- Must adhere to time and attendance polices.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Hours of work may change on an as needed basis according to departmental operating needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION

All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior.   Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
- New York State license and AART registration.
- AAS degree.

PREFERRED:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in all diagnostic x-ray procedures in a hospital.
