The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehab Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Physical Therapist III. The successful candidate will:
- Evaluate and treat patients referred for skilled physical therapy service according to the department’s standards of care.
- Establish treatment goals and create plans of care to attain the established goals.
- Evaluate and submit requests for assistive devices, orthoptic and prosthetic needs.
- Submit all necessary paperwork, as well as electronic medical records and daily billing according to the department’s policy and procedures.
- Educate patients and families about appropriate precautions, home exercise program, safety, fall prevention, use of appropriate assistive device.
- Participate in departmental in services.
- Be able to work in a dynamic environment.
- Assist with quality assurance studies
- Must be a team player and a role model for other staff members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION

All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.

Qualifications:
- NYS PT License or eligible (must pass licensing exam within one year).
- MS PT or DPT Degree from an APTA accredited program is preferred.
- A minimum of one year related experience is preferred; recent graduates will be considered.
