The Department of Pharmacy at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full time Staff Associate/ Pharmacy Staff Assistant. The TH Staff Associate is supervised by the Director and Associate Director of Pharmacy. The successful candidate will: - Direct specific areas of responsibility, which encompass the complete spectrum of financial transactions regarding Pharmacy purchases such as accessing preferential contract pricing. - May prepare monthly and year-end journal entries and assistance to outside CPA firm during the audit and additional assistance to department during audit season, as necessary. - Performs theoretical understanding of general ledger activity and financial reporting; specific knowledge of financial principles and their application to the healthcare industry within the NYS system. - Appointee is proficient in all areas of functional responsibilities surrounding the purchase of pharmaceuticals; work involves analytical and problem-solving skills requiring moderate independent judgment; final approval rests with higher authority. - Prepares operational reports on the utility of medication in specific hospital patient care areas which may impact hospital finances. - Leadership limited to fulfilling daily work assignments or carrying out projects; regular contact with clerical staff and other finance related areas; occasional but limited outside contacts. General oversight of spending, reimbursements from 340B contracted pharmacies and compliance with HRSA requirement; this also includes compliance with CMS program standards. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Accountancy. - Two (2) years of Pharmacy experience in either retail or hospital would be preferred. |
