The Department of Pharmacy at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full time Pharmacy Assistant/ Pharmacy Tech. The successful candidate will: - Assist in filling medication orders for inpatients and outpatients. - Maintain stock of pharmaceutical and related supplies. - Maintain stock orders as needed. - Process charges and generate computer labels for inventory management. - Manage proper profiling for the patient. - Maintain supplies in pharmacy work areas. - Assist in the preparation of parenteral solutions as needed utilizing compounding technology. - Assist in the preparation of extemporaneous pharmaceuticals. Maintain prescription files. - Assist the pharmacist in answering drug information questions. - Participate in Nursing Station inspections. - Participate in unit dose cassette exchange system. | All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization. | |||

Qualifications: - Pharmacy Technician Certification or eligibility to obtain certification within one year of employment or Graduate Pharmacy Student awaiting New York State Licensure. - A minimum of one year of employment as a Pharmacy Technician within either a retail or hospital setting preferred. - Experience with automated technology in a Pharmacy setting is highly desirable. |
