The Department of Pathology at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full time Clinical Laboratory Supervisor, Chemistry & Immunology. The successful candidate will:
- General responsibility for Clinical Laboratory’s and office personnel
- Assures adequate staffing at all times.
- Liaison with Hospital Administrative services and clinical departments.
- Prepare and implement budget for the Chemistry and Immunology Laboratory.
- General responsibility for supplies, equipment and materials management.
- Interfaces with office facilities and coordinates laboratory services.
- Participate in the hospital, departmental quality improvement activities.
- Coordinates quality control record and checks performance manual for all tests done in the lab areas.
- Assures proper documentation for compliance with all regulatory agency requirements.
- Comply with all established standards including CLIA, NYSDOH, CAP, FDS, JC and University Hospital policies and procedures.
- Assures compliance with Institutional and Departmental policies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION

All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science required. (Master of Science Degree is preferred.)
- Seven (7) years minimum experience in Chemistry and Hematology, including five (5) years supervisory / administrative capacity required.
- New York State Laboratory Technologist License required.
- ASCP certification required.
