The Department of Medicine at SUNY Downstate is seeking a part time Clinical Nutritionist II. The Nutritionist obtains diet history and assesses nutritional status of patients requiring special diets, and instructs patients and families on required diet therapy for the Department of Medicine’s Transitional Continuity of Care Clinic (TCC Clinic), Patient Center Medical Home, and the Transplant Program. The successful candidate will: - Develop and implement nutritional care plan based on assessment of nutritional needs, current nutrition related problems and psychosocial studies; - Consults with physicians and other health care professionals concerning patient’s nutrition related problems and psychosocial studies; - Counsels individuals and families in nutritional principles, meal planning, nutritional supplement or special products selection, reviews laboratory values, conducts anthropometric measurements and other objective nutritional status (i.e. nitrogen balance study to assess nutritional status); - Refers patients to other professionals for proper financial assistance and psychosocial intervention; - Communicates nutritional problems, diet information; Designs and develops educational materials to assist in patient education and in management of diet related problems; - Develops experimental diets as requested by medical staff. Plans and participates in quality assurance studies for nutritional services; - Coordinates and integrates clinical and administrative aspects of dietetics to provide quality nutritional care; - Attends professional meetings or continuing educational programs for maintaining registration status. | All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization. | |||

Qualifications: REQUIRED: - Bachelor's Degree. - Registered Dietician. PREFERRED: - Master's Degree or at least ten (10) years experience in clinical dietetics. - Clinical provider privileges at University Hospital of Brooklyn Medical Board. |
